Motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children in the United States. But many of these deaths can be prevented. Placing children in age- and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats reduce serious and fatal injuries by more than half. Research also shows that four out of five children are improperly restrained.
The certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) at the Car Seat Program for the SLO County Public Health Department offer free car seat checks to the public which will assure you have the right seat and that it is installed correctly.
