The group will offer a confidential, structured, and warm environment for children to safely express their feelings and experiences with grief due to the death of a family member or friend. Group members will have the opportunity to participate in child-centered activities in a peer setting. There is no charge to participate in the group. The group will be co-facilitated by Michelle Luzi, Social Work Intern and Amy Carlisle, MFT Trainee (under supervision).
If you know of a child who might benefit from the group, or if you have questions, please call Tony Huffaker at 544-2266. After October 2nd, the group will be closed and no new members will be taken.
MeCards4Kids® 2016 Drop-in Workshop. Monthly (except in June & December).
3rd Thursday each month. 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Children learn a special way to remember loved ones in this creative class that teaches how to craft MeCards collage cards and words to go with them.
Children 7-9 may attend with a parent present, older children may attend on their own. All parents are welcome to stay for a separate parent’s workshop providing grief information and support.

Olive Grove Charter School, a free-tuition, public education program for families wanting to enroll their students in home or independent study programs with parents as the primary instructors, has opened a branch at 733 Marsh St., Suite 210, San Luis Obispo.
The school offers a standard state curriculum to students in grades K-12 with a transitional kindergarten program as well. Enrollment occurs throughout the year.
Operation School Bell provides free, new clothing to elementary school children in need in our county. The program has facilities in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. Families may call for an appointment starting in August of each school year.

Throughout this once a week, nine-week signature program (Parent Engagement in Education), PIQE fulfills its mission of educating, empowering, and inspiring parents of K–12 school age children to take an active role in encouraging and enabling their children to: stay in school; improve their academic performance; develop healthy and constructive relationships with their parents, teachers, and counselors; and focus/prepare themselves for a post-secondary education.
Certificates of completion are granted to all graduates.
The program is FREE to parents (available in both North and South County).
