Hospice of San Luis Obispo offers Support Groups which provide emotional support and education about the grief process and finding comfort through connecting with like-minded individuals. Support Group meetings are offered according to the needs of the community and often change to meet those needs. A current schedule of support groups is online and regularly updated.
The group will offer a confidential, structured, and warm environment for children to safely express their feelings and experiences with grief due to the death of a family member or friend. Group members will have the opportunity to participate in child-centered activities in a peer setting.
See HERE for a layout of each support group, directions, and calendars.
Specific support groups pertaining to school-aged children include: General Grief Support Group, Living with Grief Support Group, Pet Loss Support Group
If you know of a child who might benefit from the group, if you have any interest or questions, please call Tony Huffaker at 805-544-2266.
