This program, designed for parents/caregivers who have teenagers and pre-teens, will give you the guidance and support you need to turn the challenges of raising a teenager into opportunities for growth.

Baby Steps: Promoting Healthy Beginnings
Baby Steps is a peer-led educational program that provides a safe environment for pregnant and first-time mothers to discuss topics regarding pregnancy and parenting. The course encourages partners to attend and learn more about their transition into parenthood.
Baby Steps is a free 7 week course meeting every Thursday from 3:30-5pm at the Alpha office: 11549 Los Osos Valley Rd, Suite 104, San Luis Obispo, 93405. Baby Proofing Your Home
Baby-proofing your home is one of the most important things you can do for your newborn. In this class facilitated by retired Health Education Assistant at the San Luis Obispo County Health Dept., you will learn standard safety precautions and tips to create a child-safe home. Put safety first, make your own checklist for new parents.
Classes are offered on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 12:30. Classes are free to attend, but reservations are required. Childcare is available by reservation. Call 805-541-3367 or email info@sloalpha.org to reserve space.
Budgeting for Baby
Are you concerned about how you will afford the extra expenses of an additional family member? We are here to help. Families of all educational levels are invited to meet with a specialist to learn how to manage your money better. Topics covered may range from creating a budget and opening a bank account, to creating a savings plan, getting out of debt, filing your taxes, setting goals and creating a sustainable fiscal plan.

Peer support group for Latina women
Facilitated by a culturally competent Alpha staff member, this group meets to discuss pregnancy, parenting, and life stressors in the Hispanic cultural context. We share our experiences and use them as learning opportunities for ourselves and others. Join us as we chat, make friends, and help each other through the process of motherhood.
This group meets in Atascadero from 6-7pm at the Community Link, 6500 A Morro Road, Atascadero. Call the Alpha office for more information 805-541-3367. Groups are free to attend, no reservation is necessary.

CF Application
Celebrating Families, a 16-week program for the whole family, provides a free family style dinner as well as family education sessions in order to create a successful and healthy family environment. Celebrating Families aims to help families impacted by substance abuse and drug dependence by giving families the skills they need to foster a healthy and effective family unit.

SUCCESSFUL PARENTING, SPARK TRAINING
New parenting class offered by CWS for those who have had CWS involvement. Probation and court-referred parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The six class series will focus on identifying challenging behaviors in both infants & children and how you can effectively parent children with behavioral issues. Parents may start attending at any point in the 6-session series; attendance does not need to start with Session #1. Classes will focus on: nurturing a strong bond between you & your infant; how to comfort a low-threshold infant; helping your school age child succeed; effective & positive discipline.
