If you have concerns regarding a particular class, please contact the agency who is providing the resource (listed with each class, under “CONTACT”).
Through this program you will learn skills that will help you develop cooperation, responsibility and good character in your children. You will also learn positive discipline techniques so you can avoid those all-too-familiar power struggles. Best of all, you will be able to share ideas with other parents who know exactly what you are going through! Childcare is provided free of charge for all the classes.
Active Parenting for 5-12 Year Olds: Tuesdays (September 28th-November 2nd) from 6:00-8:00p.m. in the C.L. Smith-Staff Lounge. Facilitated by Sunshine Frawley.
Active Parenting for Teens: Wednesdays (September 22nd-October 27th) from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the San Luis Coastal Adult School, Room B3. Facilitated by Julie Ashworth and Sallie Higgins.

Children: The Challenge of Divorce
This class addresses the needs of children whose parents maintain separate households and provides the “how to” of maintaining an ongoing co-parental relationship. This class is for adults only and satisfies the Court’s requirements for parent education prior to receiving final orders.
Co-Parenting Essentials (COPE)
A co-parental education class for divorced & divorcing parents, parents with shared custody, and parents without custody, who are involved in continued conflict. Parents will learn about the detrimental effects of conflict on their children and will learn new ways to communicate to end fighting and to increase cooperation

French Hospital offers Babies 101 (the basics of caring for your new baby), Infant CPR, Toddler First Aid Classes, Breastfeeding Classes, Sibling Classes, Prepared Childbirth Classes and car seat information, in English and Spanish.

A ten-week class to discuss anger management techniques, that will improve your family relationships and parenting.

ChildSharing offers online co-parenting classes for adults who are raising children between two homes (due to family transitions such as divorce, separation and remarriage) and who are interested in learning better co-parenting and coping skills. These 4-hour online co-parenting classes meet national standards for court mandated programs and parents will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Classes in English and Spanish
The goal of the Parent Participation Program is to enhance parenting skills through classroom discussion, interaction and observation. Parent and child attend class once a week and focus on the developmental stages of the child. Curriculum includes teacher-led discussions on parenting techniques and strategies for creating a healthy family environment. In class, parents share their challenges and successes while children enjoy age-appropriate play, circle time, and songs. Through interacting with other parents and children while participating in the classroom environment, parents gain a greater understanding of the needs and abilities of their children.
DATES: classes change quarterly, parents may add a class at anytime on a space available basis
TIME: morning, afternoon and evening classes available

TUITION: $49/10 weeks, scholarships available for families in need
